Swimming Pool Investment

If you want that American dream backyard swimming pool, be prepared to spend a significant amount of money.
The simple cement rectangle with a diving board at one end is nice but not when you can have more.....and so the decision must be made as to how much you want to invest in your swimming pool project.
Remember, the more spectacular your poolscape is, the higher the cost of the swimming pool but also the more likely it is to add at least some value to your home - in most areas of the country. For high end pools in Southern California all the way to the luxurious swimming pools crafted by custom swimming pool builders across the country to the Virginia, Maryland, New York and numerous other states.

It's a myth that you get your pool investment back when you sell your home, in fact, if it's unwanted a pool can actually be viewed as a liability.
Some of the investment will be recouped but it will depend on such factors as the interest and look, the ambiance that your create in your space. So make sure you include features - cabanas, outdoor entertaining areas, spas, lighting, temperature control, the easiest and best filters and other cleaning and maintenance tools, to make your pool as trouble free as possible. Not only will it be more attractive to potential future buyers, but if you're going to invest in a pool at all, why skimp on your own enjoyment - as well as that of all the new friends you'll have once your new swimming pool is open for business.

If you're going to be making a swimming pool investment then you ought to be getting the best you can. Like with most things, price hurts once and quality hurts all the time. Get something good, it might cost a few extra bucks but it will probably work out better for you in the long run.

Household items are no different when it comes to that, premium goods and services are different than the cheapos. How many times did you get a bargain only to have it quit working right the next day. Just be careful and don't go too cheap, that's usually when there's trouble. Be reasonable and hopefully you'll invest wisely and have lots of fun with your swimming pool.

Premium hot tubs are another way to have lots of fun if you don't go the whole pool avenue. Spa and hot tub dealers that ship nationwide and have some models for many different things, like couples spas, shallow hot tubs for shorter people, deep hot tubs for taller people and simple round hot tubs, family sized hot tubs and you name it. Get a high quality premium hot tub if the swimming pool idea doesn't pan out. You'll have great fun in the warm bubbling waters and if you get a good high quality portable hot tub then it will last for a long time too!

Rock Pools with Grottos and Caves

One of the most popular styles of swimming pools today is one that is accented with rockwork such as rock boulders and rock waterfalls around the pool.
Custom rock pools can be very elaborate and most people that like rock pools wish they had the budget to include it ALL......ALL the bells and whistles of rock accents for the most fantastic rock swimming pool creation. It can get quite expensive but so worth it if that's what you're heart desires and your budget allows.

We're talking about truly creating a backyard swimming pool that will have people talking. An unforgettable experience awaits those that have the pleasure of enjoying a very high end custom swimming pool with lots of rock and waterfalls.

Many times a rock pool will have a beach entry rather than the standard swimming pool steps. Beach entries to the pool are very cool because you can just walk right in, like walking into the ocean or a lake. After a short distance, most beach entry pools roll off into a couple of standard swimming pool steps. It's nice because you get the look of the beach entry swimming pool design but it doesn't take up all the room which is normally required with such design of pool.

High end swimming pools featuring extreme rock creations can have fantastic caves carved into the rock. Depending only upon your budget, get as carried away as you want to. Most people stay with a smaller, more intimate cave styled and carved into their swimming pool somewhere tucked into the waterfalls. It's a nice place to swim into and then walk around or sit on a bench while your secluded under the running waterfalls. There's usually a pillar or colomn which is built into the pool and supports the cave and gives it the real feeling of being a true cave in the pool. It is absolutely just like being in a natural rock cave like you might find in some tropical paradise somewhere in the world.....only better....it can be in YOUR yard, every day of the year, 365 days.
Some clever rock creators even do some fancing carving into the cave and the colomn which gives it the feel of being ancient. Sometimes a totem pole design can be used or something else of interest to you.

Rock waterfalls with grottos are a very popular option for those loving the lagoon style swimming pool look. A grotto gives just enough room under the waterfalls for a nice bench to be installed where you can sit, secluded, under the waterfalls in the pool. What fun!

You can get the tropical look complete with rock trimming around the pool, nice rock waterfalls and a grotto from many quality swimming pool companies.
Rock pools are different than standard swimming pools though and not all companies are created equal, especially when it comes to getting a rock pool built. If you're looking for a luxury rock swimming pool then you're looking for something to be created and built in your backyard. It requires artistry. It requires attention and care to get it just right.
From the planning and swimming pool design of a rock swimming pool all the way through the construction process to getting it all running, it's best to work with professional rock swimming pool builder for this type of work. You don't need someone to practice, just remember the old saying, price hurts once and quality hurts forever.
Don't look for the lowest price here, you might end up with an eyesore. Get it right from the start and work with someone that can help you from beginning to end. Be sure they've done it before and you'll have the best chance of getting the look you want.
The sounds of running waterfalls around swimming pools in Southern California are created by Waterworld Industries. If you're in the market for a magnificent rock pool creation, visit them at PoolsByWaterworld.com

Thinking About a Swimming Pool?

Thinking About a Swimming Pool?
Some things to consider.

Backyard swimming pools have enjoyed a steady rise in popularity as a great way to cool off and relax in a private setting. A swimming pool can be a great focus for family, friends and entertaining. As great as owning a swimming pool can be there are things to consider if you’re thinking of “taking the plunge” and getting one installed for your home.

What kind of pool do you want?

You will need to decide if you want an above ground or an in-ground pool. Both have advantages and special considerations. Usually the main factor in this decision is cost. A perfectly fine above ground pool can be installed for under $1500 while an in-ground pool will cost at least 8 times as much depending on size and location.
Appearance can be another factor. Generally speaking an in-ground pool is more attractive to most people than an above ground pool. Conversely, above ground pools are far more attractive than in years past. The look of fake wood slats and such is pretty much a thing of the past. Liner choices too are much wider and more attractive for an above ground pool than they used to be. Generally speaking, an above ground pool will cost less to operate. Because they hold less water they use smaller pumps and are a little easier on chemicals. Just for yucks consider an in-ground pool has a lifetime of up to forty years. The average above ground pool is in operation for about five years.

I want an in-ground pool, how about that?

In addition to the factors above an in-ground pool allows far more flexibility in design and options. Your budget is really the only limit on what you can do with an in-ground pool design. Negative edges, waterfalls, natural rock formations, swim in bars, attached spas, you name it and with enough coin of the realm you can have it. Even standard designs and forms can yield a very attractive backyard feature at a relatively reasonable price.

I’ve decided an above ground pool is the way to go.

Above ground pools have come a long way. Much improved wall designs and liners make them much less the eyesore that kept prospective buyers away. Add on decking, whether prefab or custom built, can make the above ground pool a very attractive focus for summer fun and for considerably less money. Pool accessory manufacturers have gotten the message and offer many products for above ground pools that used to be available only to in-ground owners; basket ball and volley ball games, solar blanket reels and even pool slides!

The nitty gritty

Installing a pool also has some serious considerations, safety and liability being paramount. Most non-rural areas will require a building permit and mandate safety fencing for the pool area as well as limited access to the pool. Local ordinances vary so make sure you know what’s in place in your town. Wherever you live securing a pool from unauthorized entry should be a no-brainer.

Real estate values can also be an important consideration. Realty research shows that a pool is neutral factor in a home’s value. Potential buyers are about evenly divided on whether a pool is a good or bad thing in any given property. Research on the type of pool is sketchy but remember, an above ground pool is removable an in-ground is not.

Hopefully this will help in making a decision on the pool of your dreams. I can only hit the high points so make sure you do your homework and think carefully about your decision. Take your time, do it right and you’ll have a swimming pool that will pay big dividends in fun, relaxation and entertainment.
